• Can tolerate brief dips to about 15 °F to 20°F

ROOT SYSTEM

• Strong but non-invasive compared to other large trees
• Roots spread wide, avoid planting too close to foundations, pools, or pipes
• Performs best in well-draining soils

MEASUREMENTS & SIZES

• Can grow 25 to 30 ft tall and 20 to 30 ft wide under regular conditions
• Can be trained as a tree or kept pruned as a large shrub

WATER NEEDS

• Low – Drought tolerant
• Requires deep, infrequent watering during establishment
• Overwatering should be avoided

LIGHT NEEDS

• Full sun –  For best growth at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily
• Tolerates high heat
• Does not perform well in shade

PRUNNING

• Best pruned in late winter to early spring
• Can be shaped as single-trunk, multi-trunk, or espaliered

GROWTH RATE

• Moderate to fast when young
• Slows as it matures
